7th Armd Div Patch

Roll out the barrel. We'll have a barrel of fun.
Roll out the barrel. We've got the blues on the run.
Zing! Boom! Tararre! Ring out a song of good cheer.
Now's the time to roll the barrel, 'cause the gang's all here.

    TOUR DESCRIPTIONS

There are so many things to do in Chicago that it was hard to pick what would be appropriate for our group. However, the Reunion Planning Committee decided to use some of the suggestions from the group to plan our activities and everything has been planned with minimal walking. We have also tried to leave you all some free time to venture out on your own. The hotel shuttle can take you to the train station or within a 5 mile radius of the hotel Also, please note that the per person registration fee was raised to $20 each to cover a special liability policy that is mandated by the State of Illinois.

    Thursday — Chicago Highlights Tour

A motorcoach with guide and bathrooms will take us around all of the City’s top attractions. While driving by all of the City’s top attractions, our first stop will be at the Willis Tower (formerly Sears Tower). Those wishing to go up on the Skydeck: there will be an extra $13 charge that must be prepaid — and NO REFUNDS. It is about a 50 yard walk from the bus to the elevators that take you up to the Skydeck for some magnificent views of Chicago! For those who do not want to go up, remain on the bus for a tour of Greek and China towns.

Second stop — Navy Pier for a 45 minute lunch on your own. Once on board the bus again, the tour will continue taking in many remaining iconic sights of the Windy City until a 2:30 p.m. (1430 for those still on military time!) return to the hotel.

Friday — Cantigny Park: 1st Infantry Division Museum Tour

First stop for the busses will be Cantigny Park for a 1.5 hour tour of the 1st Infantry Division Museum only. The Park was left by the late Colonel Robert R. McCormick.

Take the self-guided tour about the 1st Division Museum presents history of the division from the Revolutionary War, Civil War, Spanish American War, and the Mexican Punitive Expedition to its activation in WWI. Learn about the Big Red One and its roles in WWI where it led America to the international stage and into WWII as it fought its way across North Africa through Sicily, onto Omaha Beach and across Europe. Discover the 1st Division’s critical task during the Cold War standing as a deterrent between the Soviet Union and Free Europe.

Because this is a self-guided tour, see the sights at your own pace. There is seating along the way in the museum and wheel chairs are welcome.

Although the park hosts 2 museums - and is home to 11 tanks! - time constraints make it possible to only visit one museum.

At the conclusion of our stay at the museum, we will board the busses at 11:30 a.m. (1130) for a trip into Chicago where we will enjoy a business luncheon and live entertainment at the world famous Monastero’s! Known for their fine Italian cuisine for the past 50 years. There is also a 7th Armored family connection! See if you can figure out who they are related to! Lunch will include: soup, salad, rolls, pasta, Chicken Marsala, dessert and choice of coffee, tea or iced tea. The live entertainment will commence following lunch/meeting with return to the hotel by 3:30 p.m. (1530)

Vegetarian? - please let Cheryl know on your registration form so she can get you a replacement meal.
