During World War II, the Army’s Information & Historical personnel conducted hundreds of interviews of troops immediately after significant combat events. The selected records included here pertain to the 7th Armored Division and to some of the units that were allied with them.
The following records and interviews were created in December 1944 - February 1945, May 1945, and later, covering the Battle of the Bulge (the Ardennes-Alsace Campaign) actions of the units shown below in
The actions in the St. Vith Salient include Vielsalm, Poteau, Rodt, Recht, and other towns within the “fortified goose egg” defense. Some of the records also relate to Stavelot and to towns to the west of the Salm River.
The units included thus far are shown below. Click on a unit to see the interviews for that unit.
All of these records are now available. I have transcribed and indexed some of them. The rest are available as photocopies of the original interviews and maps - or the first copy of the transcribed and indexed version if I happen to be working on that when you order it. (They will all be transcribed and indexed, after I have completed writing the history of 38th Armored Infantry Battalion, probably in about 2002.)
Click on the links above for details on the interviews and price information. To order copies of the interviews, please send a check (sorry but I am not set up for credit cards), payable to Wesley Johnston, to:
For orders outside the U. S. postal system, please add $10 to cover the extra postage.
